Dahlia - Time to Store for Winter
Tips, Tricks
It's time to dig up the Dahlia Tubers for winter. In my cold climate they need to come inside for winter. -
Can you advise me as to how to plant them i have clayish have put mulch in ground, but ground can be a bit drying, i do have fir trees towering over my bed, thank you, for any advice, Sincerely Rick.

Great video. Note: I feel sorry for the bees that visit that flower in spring. :( Please reconsider that fungicide/insecticide step.
-
what is the optimum temperature for storage
-
2 questions: (1) What is the brand of the fungicide/insecticide you used? (2) Do they have to be stored at any particular temperature?
-
We're now into the first week in December and here I southern England we still have not had a frost. I am beginning to lift my dahlia tubers now - would it still be better to wait until the first frost?
-
Any special temperature at which Dahlias need to be stored?
-
Cool, I had no idea that Dahlias got so big :)

I remember when you showed us the package the bulbs came in. I was really curious to see the flowers. I love Dahlias. The bulbs have grown into beautiful flowers. I especially love the occasional red petals. If I can find them next spring, I'll give them a try.

I'm going to wait till it freezes. After 2 nights of light frost, when the plant looks black and horrible. I know for shure there dormant then. I store them in almost dry sand. This way i only have the space needed for a bucket. I can stack the buckets with the sand on each other.

I think ill try some fungicide this year on dome if them. My dahlias come out of the box with pine shavings, looking like shriveled up potatoes, I spray them on a rack and they still produce beautiful flowers. I'm not sure why. Can't wait to see what new one you plant next year.

lovely flowers,

I've seen some other videos Where they ream out the hollow stem some and store it upside down to allow any moisture inside to drain out before storing for winter. The claim was rot otherwise. What's your opinion on that step.
I bought a few dahlia plants this year and I'd love to save them and propagate if possible. Not sure what kind they are though. -
Nice video, too bad for the cut flowers, to be me I would've make a nice bouquet and put them in a vase so I can enjoy them :)
