Thank you Sir! Interesting, I'd never heard of calculating the "lean" of a tree. I'm surprised the thin, but long branches, would have that much influence on a hardwood maybe 12-18" Dia. with it's direction of fall, or 'is it fell'. I would've thought the direction of the tree itself and how far off center be the deciding factor. Again, those branches are favored over the tree's lean? Anyway, I'm about half way thru, later. O man, it helps if you know what the crown is; I thought it was part of the trunk, you know.. at the ground. Just forget me, sorry.

GOOD VIDEO.... I'm a homeowner with Hurricane Matthew approaching and I'm prepping to cut a tree that threatens the house. Your video makes great sense. I'll be safe and now, better informed! RC from North Carolina.

Very helpful tutorial walking through each step.
Wondering why the wedge wasn't driven in more so it would go as soon as the back strap was cut? -
Good advice I have like 12 trees to fell at my job so I don't want to mess up.

Excellent video. I just fell a 66 foot tree and a 40+ footer as well. Thanks for the tips!

You're an amazing teacher and instructor.
I did get lost (as a beginner) on the way you were measuring the limbs. I understand what you mean by locating them but I missed the part as to why. I am going to watch a few more times, I may not have been paying attention.
I appreciate the time you spent making this video, thank you! -
My boys recently cut a tree down for me, the old fashion way, saw and let it fall. It was very dangerous the things I saw them doing. I bought them in the house and watched your very educational video and well i'll just say professionals they were not. but after watching your video, well it made a huge difference. Thanks Mr. Lagerstorm. Thank you so much.

Check out my guide for doing urban removals. When a tree falls in the woods nobody cares, when it falls on your house, well that's a story.

In my profile pic you can see tall pine approx. 60 feet leaning on two other tall pine trees towards the back roof of my house. If it falls through the two trees it will hit the second floor. How can I cut it so it doesn't?

I really like the way you explained everything very clearly. I must cut some tree and now I know something. I will have to watch it again to master it though. Thanks again.
