Container Grown Potatoes Big Harvest : Blight resistant Sarpo Mira
Tips, Tricks
The final container grown potato harvest of the year with the Sapro Mira blight resistant potatoes. I ended up with 35 pounds in all from the last 4 30 litre pots, and considering how little space they take up in the garden it's an amazing yield per square foot so they'd be ideal for people to grow on a patio in a pot if you're short of room. I'll definitely grow these again as they are blight resistant which I can now vouch for, plus they are a good floury potato ideal for chips and roasts. Fantastic crop, Dan! Well done! Please tell me if you totally cover the plants at about 6" high or just mound soil around them on and on. I've seen suggestions for both ways on youtube. Here in TX it gets extremely hot. Will potatoes grow in pots once it turns hot? Thanks kindly for your answers!

This is amazing, I can never get this many to grow (california here)
Also, 0:31 That sound is absolutely terrifying :'( -
I've watched a lot of your videos and note that you say allowing the roots to get into the soil beneath the pots is the key. I notice that you put fertiliser in the first lot of compost. Do you add any more fertiliser along the way? I tried growing King Edwards and Pentland Dells but they were a big failure, so I'm trying to do better next time. Thanks Dan. Love your videos. Carol

SARPO MIRA is a Hungarian bred potato varieties. The name first part came from the breeder SARvari family and the PO from potato, MIRA is from the Latin name MIRAbella, which means amazing. The breeder crossed the traditional Carpathian varieties with Latin American wild varieties in 1970, and in many years he got this virus and late blight resistant potato family. Like the old type of peasant potatoes in hungary this one is good for seed material too, the way of self-sufficiency.
Has 3 type of this family Sarpo Mira, Sarpo Una, Sarpo Axona. -
