Container Gardening May 2016 | Update
Tips, Tricks
Clara's Garden Update Playlist: http://bit.ly/1OGRcsV I am fairly new to gardening, so I'd love any helpful advice! I do container gardening in Zone 5, and this is the 3rd gardening video of the 2016 season. Plan for 2016 garden includes: Sugar snap peas, butterhead lettuce, French breakfast radishes, garlic, bitter melon (ampalaya), bell peppers, sun sugar tomatoes, edible marigolds (from MIgardener), milkweed, spinach, and herbs (parsley, basil, thyme, sage, lavender, cilantro, oregano, mint). Where I bought edible marigold seeds: MIgardener https://www.youtube.com/user/MIgardener Where I'm learning to prune pepper plants: Praxxis55712 https://www.youtube.com/user/Praxxus55712 I bought bitter melon (ampalaya) seeds HERE (note, in my experience it helped to soak these seeds at least 24-36 hours prior to planting): http://www.amazon.com/Chinese-Bitter-Stonysoil-Seed-Company/dp/B00S1YYD3W?ie=UTF8&psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00 Instagram: http://instagram.com/claraslate Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ClaraSlateYT Blog: http://claraslate.blogspot.com *Affiliate Links:* ----------------------- *Earn money for shopping online at your favorite stores! As far as the herbs, they like neutral soil. Sometimes the wood chips draw the nitrogen out of the soil to break down the wood, so I'd compensate with a fertilizer. Also herb seeds are very small and probably get buried too deep or wash away when they get watered. If that area does not get the right amount of sun that can be an issue for basil, which likes sun and the heat! Your chives look great, something Ive yet to be able to grow! :)

The tree may be a crepe myrtle

I was going to ask if you were going to provide the bitter melon with a trellis, but you already answered that. It looks like your plan is perfect. Great update. Everything looking great. It seems you already know what we are growing. I think it a few too many to list. Have a great day. Best wishes Bob.
