This video made me so happy! I always wondered how to grow them. There is one in the garden where i live looking so beautiful and purple. I am happy i can make more of them! WOW!

Thank you...that was really helpful! I have artichokes that went over winter and grew some huge heads and I'm allowing 3 of the large ones go to seed. It sure helps collecting your own seed and saving the money I would otherwise have to spend on seeds.

Looks like you're pulling ticks out of the cat Lol

Awesome, now if I can just get my plant to grow some, I'll harvest the seeds. Thanks so much. www.JesusReallyDoesLoveYou.com

I live in New Zealand, so we're in Autumn/Fall right now. I have always saved my artichoke seeds, and it has always been an itchy, messy business until now. I happened to deadhead my artichokes just before we were hit by some awful weather, so I left them in a shallow box in the sun but under a veranda roof till I got around to them. I had already pulled the stamens off them. They are now ripening in their warm shelter. As each seed ripens, the thistledown pops up from among the spiky fibres and is very easy to pick up with your fingers. I pass by my tray of artichoke heads perhaps six times each day, and each time there are a couple of dozen seeds ready to be lifted off. If left too long, they would probably sail away to grow downwind.
This method suits me, because I have been warned by a veteran seed saver that the fine spiky fibres are dangerous to inhale, and this way it is easy to handle them without the itchiness.
Thank you for your video.

How interesting! Love how the seeds are formed. Your channel is great!

How cool that will be if you get one this year. If not, you'll get one next year for sure.

The artichoke that I started from seed this spring is a nice looking plant but so far no chokes.

I didn't know that. If you live in the US I will send you some of mine. If so, just PM me your address and I will mail some to you.
