CLAY SOIL DRAINAGE PROBLEMS
Tips, Tricks
The video is about our encounters with clay soil. Our trees weren't able to get the water because the clay soil doesn't drain well. Some tips we show are to use either a combination of sand, compost, or vermiculite, or whatever you can to get the soil to drain.

Clay soil for s usually rich in nutrients, and you've improved drainage. Best thing to do now is to make as much compost as possible and incorperate it into the topsoil. Its clearly very dry where you are so the compost will retain water. Also, invest I'm a water butt to collect rain from your guttering and even consider using bathwater to water your trees as they are thirsty. Just composting household waste and using as e water will hugely improve the health and vigor of your plants and get them to fruit. Good luck.

If you only use sand, yes it will become worse. But a combination of sand, perlite, wood bark, compost, vermiculite, and pulverized rock gypsum seems to break up the clay soil bond enough so that water will not pool or become static. Honestly you have need to use quite a bit to make sure the clay is broken up enough. I would say 4 cu. ft. per yard.

we started mulching and it really has helped keep the soil moist, cool, and free of grass and weeds.

It would really help your trees if you mulched the area heavily. 4 inches of mulch.
