Cigar Tobacco: Curing and Fermentation
Tips, Tricks
This video will explain and illustrate the complex processes of curing and fermentation of dark tobacco (i.e., tobacco used for making premium cigars). Curing and Fermentation are critical aspects of the production of premium cigars. Curing removes moisture and chlorophyll from the leaves while at the same time fixing the sugars in the tobacco. Fermentation rids the tobacco of noxious chemicals like ammonia and develops the smooth, rich flavors that will be present in the finished cigar. This video is a remastered version of an earlier upload. Much higher quality, some different media and higher resolution stills.

Do the plants themselves emit a scent when they are growing? Again I am thinking the neighbor’s bothering me about being a redneck.
My question is how does the oriental and burley tobacco smell during the curing/drying process (not the fermentation process). I am going to dry them out on the veranda on a clothes hanger.
Does the tobacco emit a powerful smell so that it smells that I am smoking all the time or does it smell like weed.
I do not wan the neighbors calling the cops because they think I am curing marijuana.

I expect to have about 20 plants -
