Building a climbing bean pole fence trellis completion with plant growth - Green Beans
Tips, Tricks
Building completion of a pole or stick fence trellis for climbing green beans, string bean in a garden with plant growth, 3 foot pole trellis fence perfect for keeping your string beans off the ground, they look good and your green beans hang down nice which makes it easier to pick or harvest as well. Its easy to get the material, just take a saw with you and go for a walk in the woods, trim a few trees...easy. Personally I bring a saw's all, a battery powered reciprocating saw. The sticks are free and when you get your climbing beans or string beans planted and growing, the plant growth covers the frame of the trellis fence, so don't worry if its not perfect, personally I like to make them funny looking...(grin). "TIP": Always use a "Heirloom" variety seed, meaning the seed is usually a 100 year old culture, not a "GMO" generically modified organism, a GMO has had specific changes introduced into their DNA by genetic engineering techniques, where organism is exposed to radiation or chemicals to change them, there now calling them "GM foods" sometimes just stamped "GM". always look for "Organic" meaning they have never been treated by any type of pesticides or chemical fertilizers and are not processed using irradiation, chemical food additives or industrial solvents. hehehe...That's actually Spinach - Long standing bloomsdale, not much of a yield, maybe because the leaves stay small, it turned a very deep green, very potent, and if your not use to natural dark greens, it can really clear you out (grin) better yield with regular bloomsdale, but best of all was the Swiss Chard - fordhook giant, and it won't send your guests running for the outhouse...

Hello, I use just the sticks for the green beans and they hold on great, its also best not to shave the poles bare, nobs and short branches will give them something to grab on as there growing up. but I use string to hold the snap peas to the chicken coop trellis, my snap peas grew over 7 feet tall last year and the wind will blow them over, I just use kite string and leave it pretty loose, kinda like tinsel on a christmas tree...(grin).

When the wind blows it may drag down the taller plants, I'd stick a few poles in here and there for support, some vine or string beans will climb up everything around, but sounds like you have a good experiment going...I'd like to see that when it gets growing...have fun.!

Hello, Yes I use 2.5 or 3 inch outdoor screws, they are green in color, Robinson screw head, I don't tighten them in all the way so they don't split the sticks and easy to take apart, the poles will get stronger when you screw on the top stick across to each other, so don't worry if your poles seems a little wobbly at first...thanks.
