Blue Jacaranda (Jacaranda mimosifolia) or Wisteria Bonsai Tree ?

The Blue Jacaranda, Jacaranda mimosifolia more often known simply as the "Jacaranda", is a sub-tropical tree native to South America that has been widely planted elsewhere because of its beautiful and long-lasting blue flowers. Older sources give it the systematic name Jacaranda acutifolia, but it is nowadays more usually classified as Jacaranda mimosifolia. It is also known as the Black Poui, or as the fern tree. Blue Jacaranda make good flowering, deciduous Bonsai in the UK. Blue Jacaranda Bonsai take a little extra care but the effort is rewarding. Position the Blue Jacaranda Bonsai in a full sun or partial shade position. Over winter the Blue Jacaranda Bonsai in a greenhouse or indoors location, with frost protection. Bring the Blue Jacaranda Bonsai back outdoors after any frost risk has past. Repot as and when required, usually yearly for young trees. Use a good well draining Bonsai compost. Keep the soil moist but never over watered. Feed Blue Jacaranda every two weeks up until flower starts. Stop feeding during flowering and resume a two weekly feed after flowering stops. Blue Jacaranda are suitable for most Bonsai styles. Upright informal styles are the most popular.
