I'm new to gardening and I need to stop eating my garlic chives that are growing beautifully .....I need to stop peeking at my garlic and tasting my German Thyme.....and kissing my little Bell Peppers goodnight.......they are so cute.

Quit tilling. That's what causes this.

you must have patience we don't control what God and Mother Nature has in store for us. gardening is a test of all of our patients. I enjoyed your video.

Farming is good for the soul, helps you stay young with the work and fresh food for the body. It's a great feeling to see the fruits of your labor. One of the greatest gifts my Dad gave to me and made me do as a kid.We still doing it together. He is almost 66 and i'm 43 and love it ,most days anyway, but it does get overwhelming especially when 150 squash plants and 40-50 cucumber plants all hit at once. ;)

Yeah I been there man..You wait all winter to plant seeds & get the garden going, then before you know it...you're running late & you have a mess. One thing I did see about your dirt is you look like you could use a big dose of Compost/Cow manure..stuff. When I started my garden it was right after we built the house & the clay from when they dug my basement ended up on top where my garden was going to be..Hard clumpy clay dirt is what I had to work with. Every spring & every fall I would go to Tractor Supply or Fleet Farm or where ever & buy those $3 or $4 bags of Compost/Cow Manure stuff & till it into my garden..Ten or twenty bags at a crack. With in 2 or 3 years I had dirt that looked & felt like baking flour..Nice dark & rich soil that my veggie plants flourished in. That stuff really made a world of difference in my garden & my yield.

I had this same problem I thought it was pests eating them though but eventually they bounced back and I had a lot of late bloomers im still new to the garden but everything seems to be going good this year knock on wood I learn something new every year

Water the area first, a day later rototil it, then put seeds, losely mulch with some hay. After a week check if the seeds came up, then remove the hay.

I love to rototill,I,m a rootin tootin rototilling fool Tim..Just funning with you Tim.Ones things fir sure, there aint no perfect world when it comes to it,we just live and learn and have fun doing it along the way.

I have never grown beans before; if your soil temperature is too cold, seed germination may not happen or the plants are weak from the start. I did my gardening about the time I saw a few corn planters in the fields, the weather was cold this spring. Planning to start some bean seeds this week for a late crop. Good luck growing.

Ah, no - as far as bean are concerned what you describe will never be a problem. In some cases it might actually help. Air is able to penetrate the soil and keep the bean seeds from molding. Consider the no till seed beds that farmers use. You have corn or cabbage maggots: http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=13&ved=0CFEQFjAM&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.which.co.uk%2Fdocuments%2Fpdf%2Fbean-seed-flies-151468.pdf&ei=9v2lU6O7CtezyAT_loH4Bw&usg=AFQjCNHN5FhXosBraFqg9jUOUCfclkxIGQ&bvm=bv.69411363,d.aWw&cad=rja

Thanks for you help on this video we also made a mistake on some of ours. Also A question did you put just two to three beans to a spot in ground? If so you did wrong you got to put a lot of beans thick and then thin them as you go they do better by coming up better. Thanks.

I think you made another mistake too, if you try and hatch 40 eggs to get chicks, you don't say it was a mistake and kill the 10 chickens that did hatch and then start over. What I am saying is those that came up, you should have took them out, properly prepared your garden, then put them back in on your first row as transplants. Then you could of replanted the rest of the garden with more seeds. Seriously, think about what you did, you killed the strongest plants from the first batch because the others didn't make it too.

Did you soak your beans over night, or use the damp paper towel method in plastic sealed bag.
