BEETS - BEST TIPS TO GROW BEETS IN THE AUTUMN [PART 2 of 2] (OAG 2016)
Tips, Tricks
PART 2 OF MY "FOLLOW ALONG" GROWING BEETS IN THE AUTUMN SEE PART 1 AT: https://youtu.be/z0Q_Rp_aQkQ In this video I am removing extra beet seedlings from my 10x20 trays and placing the extra seedlings in cell packs. This will increase my total number of beet seedlings. If you are following along, by growing your own beets, then this is where you should be at this time. If you like this video, please comment below, tell me what you would like to see more of in my videos. Be sure to subscribe so you won’t miss any videos I upload and thanks for watching my channel. Great video thanks! More people need to be learning these skills instead of video games.

I enjoy your videos, they're helpful,
Can't I transfer the seedlings to the raised bed directly? Instead of using the growing trays again..
it is my first time to grow beets 😬 -
We just moved to my dream farm and since we moved mid summer, I lost my small garden (except for some peppers we potted up) so I wanted to start a fall garden here....never done a fall garden before so I am learning as I grow, just trying to find things with a short maturity date (first frost here will be mid October)...good video!!!

I enjoyed it!! I just got some seeds about 2 days ago and I direct sowed them into the ground because we don't have grow lights! Thanks for sharing!:)

Looks to me like those that say it's can't be done shouldn't interrupt those doing it!
Nice update OAG. I've read and have been told that "You can't transplant Root Crops, they have to be direct seeded. Transplanting will damage the root and it won't produce."
Well I started germinating seeds in soil blocks a couple of years ago and wondered if beets were possible. I live in zone 9 and while I don't have an air conditioned grow room, I do have a nice place that only gets morning sun 'till 11 local. Perfect for getting a head start here I think. We rarely freeze here so I'm trying your technique in 2-3 weeks. The garden soil will still be 90+.
Thank you! -
Just dividied/transplanted beets myself today. Tray of 72 and I got a bunch more to do. My plants are not quite as big as yours, but I think I'm about 2 weeks behind. Looking forward to the garden transplant.

I'm loving your video. My beets last year didn't do so well, greens but no beets. I was growing in a brand new garden, the soil with mushroom compost and manure wasn't quite ready, but I was too excited to have a brand new garden so I planted anyway. I'm going to start my beets soon, hopefully mine will look as good as yours. I'm glad you demonstrated how to remove the extra seedlings. I hate just nipping them, it's such a waste.

Your's are definitely looking bigger than mine that I direct sowed in the ground on 8/1/16.
-
You are so diligent and non-wasteful with your gardening!! So if I wanted to clip the greens to eat will the beet keep growing underground? I would probably like the greens much more than the beet LOL
-
Hows that beet juice pooper-ooper regimen doing? You starting to see the light?
Time for putting on some iron powder, calcium/magnesium (milk powder, bone meal) and epsom salts (magnesium) and really make those sprouts hit the sky .... -
I love that u are showing real time planting, that way people new to gardening in your zone, can follow along and be successful from the beginning . Hopefully one day I will find someone like you in my zone😁

Great video OAG, I will write to you later!!!

It won't be long and you will have plenty of beets. Best wishes Bob.
