How does a pumpkin seed drop? A ripe pumpkin is something that seldom goes stray... Do you compost your pumpkin seeds?

You can do raised beds relatively cheaply. You don't have to use cement blocks for them. If you chop enough pine from the forest, why not use that? It can be done, plus it will look more natural with your plants!

Can you grow dill up there in Idaho Starry? I've got some mint growing here in Arizona, but I don't know when the best time is to cut it and put into bunches to dry?

I don't entirely agree with you about raised beds. I've seen incredibly productive raised beds using the hugelculture method. I'm planning a raised bed garden using a combination of back to Eden and hugelkultur. The beds will be lined on the inside to protect the wood from rotting. The bottom layer will have big pieces of aged wood. The second layer branches and mulch. The third layer, manure and compost. And then more mulch to top it off.The very center of each bed will contain half of a 55 gal barrel with a hole at the bottom and holes on the side leading out to the raised bed material. The top of the barrel will be an inch or 2 above the raised bed soil line.I can fill up the barrel with all my compostable materials. The worms will be able to travel between the compost bin in the center and soil in the raised bed ensuring a constant distribution of of nutrients to my plants. This method will also hold lots of water minimizing my need to water. The 1/2 barrel can be closed with a lid

Starry is going to need our help, she has been in a bad accident. Details
are here: https://www.gofundme.com/starryhilder
A GoFundMe page was started on her behalf. Even $1 would go a long way to help her
during this crisis in her and her family's life. I created an email address that
I will share with Starry and her family, they will receive 100% of the proceeds
by using this address. I have listed the address at the hospital where you can
send cards or care packages on the GoFundMe page if you prefer send something
through the mail, just so everything is in one central location. Starry has a
daytime job as a nurse and needs our support to help with bills and running her
homestead while she is recovering. As you all know she also contributes
immensely to her homestead's upkeep and her contribution will be missed. If
everyone donates only $1 it will go a long way to help her keep things running.
If you can't donate but still want to help, here is a poster you can
print and share: http://tinyurl.com/j988m54
Here is a link to an update video she posted two days ago regarding her condition: https://youtu.be/4Til0Cj-yKc
Thank you for anything you can do to help. -

do you have any trees that are dropping seeds an growing in your garden? I get a lot of seedlings in my yard from the neighbors trees. It's been very hard to remove them. Do you have any tips????
-
I love this video! Combined gardening is amazing! I do it and I have more produce in less space and less bugs, weeds and pests. A great guide book for this is the vegetable gardeners bible by Edward C. Smith. We will be posting the videos of the garden soon. Hope you can visit Starry. 😃

Hi Starry!~ I moved to a new home and the ground is awful. It is rocky and the dirt looks bad. I have read the back to eden method about the wood chip mulching, but what should I do about the dirt? Should I buy top soil and just keep piling it on? Or should I try and dig all the rocks out? Thank you!! God Bless you & Mr Hilder for all of your inspiration. May you always be blessed.

So agree with you about companion gardening, and not using gardening beds. Awesome video! Use Gods earth, not garden beds.
-
How did you get so much wood chips?
-
Great video, your garden is beautiful.Have you shared a video on salsa? If not could you? Thanks.

Can you talk more about what plants do well with companion planting (you talked a little about in this video) or which plants to never plant together. Beans and corn are something most people know of.
-
Do you think it matters In A Back To Eden Garden, if I plant two plants next to each other that don´t go together according to "Companion Planting"? I have not noticed any plants avoiding each other in nature..
