Enjoy your vegetables poised with decades of pollution and crack heads piss

Touching, inspiring, and I am part of this movement.
-
Just wonderful. These people get fresh food, reduce urban heating, build community spirit and at the same time earn a living.
-
Living the dream! It's not "alternative", it's "common sense".
-
When this movement starts eating into their profits.

We are developing Aeroponic equipment that should allow this same concept to be done even deep in the city. Check us out on Facebook /indoorharvest

I was just out in the two empty lots next to my house this morning. This is so inspiring. This year will be the first time I took control and transformed a space about 10 feet by 25 feet into a garden.

Hard to find fresh produce, really? Two words: Eastern Market.
-
I love this!!
-
How long do you guys think it will be until Monsanto sends out their enforcers (i.e., USDA, FDA) to crush this movement?
-
yes soil content worries me too.... i think most these projects remove all the soil and replace it with new stuff but idk, anyways yeah it should be thoroughly checked

Or, think instead of the future time; When everyone can have a garden. Then we see ourselves working in each others gardens. Sharing food openly without money exchange. Doing it for the love of life, and the enjoyment of a world full of naturally abundant opulence.

Don't worry to much about it. Most of those lawn chemicals will have broken down. What you need to succeed is Compost! Lots and lots of it. Don't throw any vegetable items away, put them in a composter. Worm composting (AKA: Vermi-composting) is the fastest, and yields the MOST nutritious plant food. A worm bin is easy to construct and maintain. Populate it with red worms. You can find a starter locally or online. Start with 1 pound. The multiply rapidly!

Someone told me to first get my soil tested for pesticides. I know that my soil was treated by chemlawn for years so I'm going to start with containers.

I am in argentina, what we do here is a mixture, the indusltrial and semi industrial agriculture all comes into town to BIG markets like that one, from mon to fry they sell to grocery stores, and big supermarkets like wall mart and such, but on the weekends they sell in small ammounts, family sizes and you can buy everything from there, ITS 10 y 20 times cheaper and you are getting the tipe of product that you like in the way that you like.
-
see there are ways to made a buck when times are hard, the question is how long will the food police allow this to go on,when they see people can make a few dollars on their own selling good food they will shut it all down.

I ate a piece of chocolate cake as I watched this.
