African Boxthorn Berry Jam (Bush Tucker)
Tips, Tricks
Here I am attempting to make a bush tucker jam out of "Poor Man's Goji Berry"--the humble African Boxthorn (Lycium ferocissimum) berry; the ripe red ones only, as they are toxic when green. Very similar in taste to Goji Berry (Lycium chinense) and Lycii Berry (Lycium barbarum). I notice dried goji berries from the supermarket will, if soaked well and then microwaved for two minutes, set themselves into a sort of stiff jelly syrup. I suspect they may be rich in pectin? Not sure, though. Do Australia's First People use ripe Australian Boxthorn (Lycium australe) berries as bush tucker? I don't know; and it doesn't grow in my district. Warning: Never eat any wild plant without first checking with a local expert. Please seek medical, toxicological and botanical advice before ingesting Lycium berries of any sort.

A stick blender would probably work to mix and easy to clean.
I just got one at Coles for $9.
Also it might be an idea to put it through a kitchen sieve to remove the seeds and skin.
Then you would have something like tomato sauce. -
