rather than the feeder put up a bird house I had two that both had birds raising very hungry little one, s it helped was not 100% but better than not having them there! just make sure the hole size is correct for the predatory bird your trying to attack .

To "LB" - Beer will work for your slugs. No joke, they LOVE beer. I had a huge slug problem, so I took two empty yogurt containers and filled them half full of beer. I buried the container so the soil was level with the rim. The next morning the beer was full of slime and drowned slugs (so gross). I dumped it and put fresh beer in for the next few nights. By about the third day there were only two or three slugs and after a week, I had none. Unfortunately I am still battling the green caterpillars eating my brussel sprouts but squish them ever chance I get.

Hi I'm not sure if your still on YouTube your videos are amazing by the way! In this video you talked about hand picking them! I was wondering if you could make a video of you early in the morning showing us how you pick them and step on them! Thanks ☺️

My cabbages are infested with baby green caterpillars

It's a butterfly

you saved my pot plants thank you

I pull those bastards off of my tomato plants and my wife walks on them with her platform stripper stilettos. The guts splatter into the garden, and then she grinds the corpse into the dirt with her heels for free fertilizer. This also works great on moles.

I have been having trouble with snails, slugs and those green caterpillars this year as well. My container garden was decimated. This was my first attempt with cabbage and now I have a couple left which I put knee high stockings on the top few leaves where the head will form (halfacrehomestead halfacrehomestead a video on this) I'm hoping it works. Next year I am using netting. I notice that a lot of you tubers are having the same issues. Must be the weather conditions since that is what seems to be the common denominator. I will try the tp rolls as well for my seedlings since they are so vulnerable. thanks for the info.

Thanks for posting! I noticed something had been eating my poor little brussels sprouts and discovered a pretty good sized green worm on them today- he had obviously been having the time of his life judging by his size. You mentioned planting herbs like lavender, thyme, sage, and rosemary near the plants. Do you think sprinkling clippings from those plants around my sprouts might work? I have some herbs in a strawberry pot and they're doing quite well and could use a trim. I honestly might try putting those clippings in with water and letting it sit for a time and spritzing my plants with it. Kind of like some Eu de No-Worms perfume for my sprouts :P

Love your videos! I love growing bok choy, gai lan, broccoli, cauliflower, mustard greens, kale.....but every year there is that challenge with the caterpillars, cut worms or cabbage moths...and always want to grow everything organically with NO chemicals...like BT as you mention....someone told me to try adding "play sand" to the base of the plants...have you try that before?

ill try putting stuff next to my lemon scented verbena. which is also enclosed for our winter. (southern hemisphere)

over here we call that Siberian kale. I had some seeds and they were about 5 years out of date. Fortunately I got them to sprout but have been hammered by cabbage moth and now something has made the first dcotyldons wilt before the true leaves have fired up. and some just outright eaten completely. Fortunately I have an ibc full of mint so the pots will get moved there.

I really love your channel :) Can you make a video to explain how to get rid of june bug? Thanks :D

I tried the sage but cabbage worms ate the whole plant, yes the sage plant in two days, it does not work

bird feeders are easy, just cut a fresh coconut in half hang both halves, once they east the coconut fill with seed, this is 100% natural and completely compostable alternative to plastic or other man made products, you should Not be putting Any plastic in your garden or use plastic pots plastic is toxic so you are adding toxins to your food. also you can use food grade diatomaceous earth, this is edible for you and mammals but mechanically kills insects and internal parasites.

Thanks for the advice, I will be planting some of the herbs you mentioned next season to deter the pests from coming in. Just a comment on your bird feeder - although the idea is good, alot of birds specialize in what they eat, and those which eat seeds, do not necessarily eat caterpillars/bugs. Providing a water source for them to drink from in the summer and cover from predators (hawks etc) will invite beneficial birds to your garden, and if you give them a nesting box or two, they will hang around all season for you. Thanks again for your video and the ideas!
