Yup I have one that is 4 years old! They will just keep going! My Thai chili does the same way!

Keep em warm, cut em back in the cooler weather and these guys will love you for it. Remember to re pot, fertilize and give it lots of love. Great stuff.

I have a 6ft tall, 5 yr old cayenne pepper tree. It's now completely woody. I also had a jalapeño plant that wasn't nearly as big growing in the same pot, but it died earlier this year when the pot got tipped over and laid on the patio for two weeks while I was away. My tobassco and cayenne survived. I'm a bit paranoid about losing the cayenne, so I have two more plants growing from its seed just in case. My tobassco is just as old, (very compact and bushy though) but the peppers are so tiny they are a chore to pick. No one ever told me they lasted this long, but it just keeps living!

I have a 5 month old Jalapeño plant that has 4 peppers growing on it. I hope my plant lives as long as yours did.

I have a two year old jalapeño plant as well except mine developed white fuzzy mold on parts of the stem.

I just got one for myself, this should be interesting!

Thanks for the video on this, really interesting. Im overwintering a habanero and tabasco plant this year but after watching this video I think I will do a Jalapeno along with them next year. Going to try and do a miniseries of videos on my overwintered plants.

Easy to believe because peppers are actually perennials. We just grow them as annuals. God Bless

What is that red plant in the background? I've seen it before at someone's house, but I have no idea of the name...

Wow...

You just made me very happy. It was so hard to sprout jalapeno's but now I finally have 6 healthy plants. Feels good to know I don't have to start over again next year.

Wow! I never knew that a jalapeno plant could be a perennial that long The comments below did not ask this.Is there ever an issue of this plant getting root bound ? Some people prune their roots to increase their viability. Just curious if you evet have done that
-
peppers n tomatoes ie indeterminates mostly- r PERENNIALS- they will continue 2 grow n get bigger every year, indefinitely, unless somethin else kills 'em off, lol- n actually that rule applies 2 all tomato family plants- ty 4 posting n GB!

That is one tiny Jalapeno plant. How big is the trunk? I kept Tabasco plants for 2.5 year once, but tossed them out because they were too much hassle. I think I'm going to try potting some pepper plants up this year.

after 7 years , i think i would call it a pepper tree, or pepper bush, or pepper shrub :)
congrats man, that is awesome in my book, for whatever that's worth.
