(6 of 9) Growing Tomatoes & Peppers: Pepper Planting, Container Soil, Basic Feeding, Tomato Progress
Tips, Tricks
This is the 6th video of 9. Peppers and tomatoes like the warmth and generally like to be planted when the nights are in the 50's and the days are in the 70's. Too much nitrogen grows a lot of pepper leaves. While tomatoes love to be fed, a bit less for peppers is better. I talk about some basic fertilizing principles and how to make a basic container soil. I also show you how to plant your peppers in containers and in earth beds. Tomatoes show up in the video to but they will be the star of the next video. Hello Is this soil clay it looks like my soil ?
-
This was a lot of grate work you did for use. Big thanks I have a small garden and I'm thinking why not grow two plants together in each hole?if your soil it good and ph and rich .they may help each grow stronger from wind and make more harvest then one plant .it might be a happier plant if feed like two plants. But not over water.have you ever played around with that idea ?

ive got a question... if you plant the pepperplant any deeper than the original soil line doesnt it rot or affect the stem?
-
seedlings are the same size when you transplant

I need you urgent advice. I bought this big bag of Compost, and it said on it the pH is 7.8 plus when I opened it, it had bugs and insects crawling in it. are both those issues a problem?

Hey Gary, I recently potted up my tomatoes in 5 gallon containers. I added 2tbsps of a pulverised dried banana peel and eggshell mix, but made the mistake of laying the root ball on top without mixing the organic powder in. Will the plant roots be damaged?

hello
great vid ;) -
i am a new gardener and prefer watching ur vids, u have a nack for teaching us how and what to do with our plants. thank u. i have watched so many of ur vids and i haven't even hit half of them. agian thank u for all the great information.
i do have a question though. my tomatoe plant is about 2foot high and have about 10-15. tomatoes ripening it is in a container. it got mold on alot of leaves about a month ago and trimed it all off and sprayed with baking soda mixture. so now it really doesn't have many leaves left and it is starting to get mold agian. i have trimmed just the single leaves and a couple stems off that had mold. well now there isn't many leaves left. i am worried it is going to die off. the leaves also are yellowing too. what can i do to help it get bigger and get more leaves? i do live in southern Florida and it is an intermediate tomatoe plant. i have it in full sun most of the day too. should i mobe it to alittle more shade until about 3or4 o'clock then sun after that? thanks for ur help. -
My tomato plant is slightly more than 12 inches high. All of a sudden, it stopped growing fast. Now i find some new growth but some old leaves are turning brittle, dry and brown. what is happening? suggest some organic measure pls. by the way, the weather here is really hot. i gave it some epsom salt solution and used bio diet nutrition recently.

At what point should we let the flowers go? I am in a subtropical climate and we have very long summers. I'm wondering if it's ok to start flowering. My cayennes are in pots for 2 weeks now.

Great vids! Geez, I thought I was already subscribed to your channel ......... well, I am now! Unfortunately, it is way too late for me to start seeds here in Pa, but I'll be ready and armed with everything I ever wanted to know about tomatoes & peppers, but was afraid to ask for next year! LOL! I have some started tomato plants from a friend that I have under lights, and a couple pepper plants in a large container that I over-wintered. I am using your info on the started tomatoes, and will be getting the rest of my plants for this year from a local grower. Next year I will be prepared to start all my plants from seeds, which means I also will be able to start many of the tomato types that I can not get from local growers, plus add a few varieties on my wish list by then. Happy growing Gary! Will be watching for your next vids. Take care.

At ~ 13:46, it looks like you repurposed a garden rake into an extra large hand cultivator of sorts. Another good idea. ^ ^
