In today’s 2 minute tip, I let you know about two of my favorite winter greens that have no problem surviving the winter here in zone 5 inside a cold frame or a hoop house. And I’ll also let you know when you can plant them in your area for a winter harvest. Mache and claytonia are tender, tasty, cold hardy greens that make a perfect addition to salads during the fall, winter, and early spring. Mache is also known as Corn Salad and you may know Claytonia by the name miner’s lettuce. We’ve been growing both for several years, and they’re two of our most reliable crops during the cold months. One Yard Revolution is all about growing a lot of food on a little land using sustainable organic methods, while keeping costs and labor at a minimum.
